Advantage: Bub
(On the car ride home from church this morning…)
Pie: Roar. Roar. Roar.
Bub: No roaring! Lions drive your brother crazy. EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT!!!
Pie: Roar.
Bub: You can cry, Pie! You can cry!
Pie: (Begins crying.)
Bub: That’s right. It is time for you to cry. I will cry you.
Pie: I’m not crying! I’m roaring like a tiger!
Bub: No roaring! I give you a time out! You will go to bed and have time out in the bed.
Pie: I won’t go to bed – I already had a good sleep!
Bub: Roar. Roar. Roar.
Pie: (Refuses to take the bait.)
Bub: *smack, smack*
Pie: (wailing) No kissing me!

I just think of the two parents snickering in the front seat and the scene is perfect! Too funny!
Ah, siblings. Nobody can push buttons better than they!
It's such a combination of funny/annoying, isn't it? And my kids ALWAYS act up on the way home from church - they learn NOTHING!
Poor Pie! She'd better get used to a lifetime of the nrotherly torment! LOL
I give Miss Pie one month tops before she figures out how to get his goat but good. Tops.

Using My Words
witness the wild pushing of the buttons in its natural habitat...
You KNOW I get this post. Completely.
This scene plays out almost daily in our car. It's always the car . . .
Ah siblings... so much, um, love.
Yes, that's it. Love.
things I miss out on as the parent of one
What is it with kids and roaring? I can't get my boys to stop. At the playground they chase the other kids around roaring and I have to remind them over and over again that some people don't like that. So annoying!
Can't say I blame Bub much for that one. ;)
how sweet kisses.
Growing up I hated car rides with my sister.
Aww, they're awesome.
I look forward to the day when we are more than 3 and I can eavesdrop on the dialogue of my children. :-)
Isn't there a Christian moral lesson in all this? Turning the other cheek or some such thing? I don't exactly recall kissing coming into it but...
In case anyone is in any doubt, the kisses were a stroke of pure evil genius. And yes, hubby and I were snickering helplessly in the front seat.
This was HILARIOUS!!
"That’s right. It is time for you to cry. I will cry you."
That was definitely my favorite line. Oh Bub, you slay me.
If it isn't roaring it is high pitched shrieking. Thanks for making me feel not alone in why my children often make me feel insane. Not that I'm saying you're feeling insane or anything!
Bub...I love the way he talks, and he is CLEVER. I agree with Julie, Pie will figure out how to get to him.
I'd agree with maypole (again) but then I remember that in situations like these my son pushes my buttons. Which is a bit embarrassing. But true.
This is hilarious! Sounds like my car.
*kaboom!*
that was the sound of my heart, pounding loudly and wonderingly, at the beauty of your children as revealed through this series of words.
