There's something inherently summery and lovely about yellow, isn't there? My mother keeps telling me it's a "difficult" colour. I disagree. As an accent colour it can make your whole room look cheery and the way you've used it I'm sure you walk into a room and it makes you smile. Absolutely lovely.
That yellow cushion is perfect. So happy and cozy and perfect. It makes me think of the place that Anne stayed with her roomates in Anne of the Island.
Bon - Yes! Somebody finally commented on it! (I was expecting someone to correct me because technically it goes, "Nature's first green is gold / Her hardest hue to hold...")
Mimi - There really should be a blog post in there somewhere, shouldn't there? Unfortunately, by the time I heard about it they already knew it was a truck from the chicken plant. When hubby got to work, all anybody knew was that the streets were full of blood.
Lovely! I had always read that putting a touch of yellow in each room is a great trick, and now I can see why. Yours are much more lovely than the parrot beaks gracing my living room at the moment....thanx for the inspiration :-)

I love the way the cat perfectly balances off the pillow on the couch. The feather, likewise, is a marvelous touch of whimsy.
Those mums look a lot healthier than they did when I last saw them. ;)
I have that red n' white cushion in the last photo! Except it's one of the square ones.
I like yellow, too. So cheerful.

Ah. That's why there are always shoes all over my house!
Lovely.
That sounds like a great philosophy. By the way, I love the bricks you chose for the outside...
I daresay yellow makes you happy.
excellent plan.
thank you. i shall now have the Outsiders' poem "stay gold" stuck in my head for the next, oh, three weeks.
for that, you should really come decorate MY house.
It all looks wonderful. So warm and inviting. Too bad you've got blood running down the main drag in town, huh? Almost made it in time for Halloween!
(Dear commenters, really, the streets ran in some places 3" thick with blood. Truck leaked ...)

Yellow is my favorite color, and you've demonstrated why: it brightens things instantly.

Yellow makes me happy, too. Yes--I long ago learned that decorating technique--it's the only way to go!
One of my favorite colors!
I'm now humming You are my sunshine, my only sunshine... now that I've seen sunshine peeking out throughout your house.
so your favorite color must be violet.
;)
nice.
VERY nice. Good job!
"Lel-low" has been my favorite color since my eldest called it his own so many years ago. You're right about putting it everywhere.
Your house is beautiful and I love the little dolls on the bed, its a nice touch.
Ever since my fiance proposed to me with a gorgeous diamond engagement ring from www.idonowidont.com we are going to buy a place together.
You have great home decorating style, I should take tips from you!
Lovely.
I think your description needs updating today
MLD :)
The yellow looks great and may I give my compliments to whomever designed your entire front door 'area' - fabulous!
Also, I had to do a double-take - I thought your cat was a pillow. :)
What a great series of photos.
I love yellow.
Wow. Actual decorating! I am so in awe!
This looks very beautiful all around.
Bea, you are truly golden. The house looks amazing; mazel tov.
It's always the shortest pencil in my set, that color. It makes pretty much any other color come ALIVE.
